Position Overview:

The City of Harwood is seeking a reliable and motivated Public Works Assistant to support the maintenance and improvement of city infrastructure and public spaces. This position plays a key role in keeping the community safe, clean, and well-maintained.

 

Key Responsibilities:

· Assist with maintenance and repair of streets and public facilities.

· Perform landscaping duties, including mowing and trimming.

· Support snow removal and ice control operations during winter months.

· Operate and maintain tools, equipment, and city vehicles.

· Conduct routine inspections and report maintenance needs.

· Assist with water, sewer, and storm water systems upkeep as needed.

· Follow all safety procedures and city policies.

· To keep an accurate record showing the locations of all valves, cut-offs, connections, and other appurtenances to the city water and sewer system.

· To keep an accurate account showing when and where all connections are made to the city water and sewer system.

· To maintain accurate records showing the date and location of all repairs to the water and sewer system, including the work done and the time and cost expended therein.

· To make or supervise the making of all connections with the water works system and repairs thereto, including the pumping station, and to follow the instructions of the City Council, Mayor, and City Auditor in turning on or turning off the water for any consumer.

· To see that all provisions of the ordinances pertaining to the water and sewer system, including the construction, reconstruction, and maintenance of the system, are complied with.

· To perform such duties as shall be required by law and these ordinances and such other duties as may be required from time to time by the City Council.

· Responsibility for Books, Files, and Records: The superintendent of water and sewer shall be responsible for all water and sewer properties of the city, including books, records, and files thereof, excluding those of which it is the duty of the City Auditor to keep custody and control.

Qualifications:

· High school diploma or equivalent

· Valid driver's license with CDL Class B required

· Ability to perform physical labor in all weather conditions.

· Basic mechanical or maintenance experience is a plus.

· Strong work ethic and ability to work independently or on a team.

. Pass a pre-screening drug test and random drug tests
